One outcome of certain workshops and expert meetings within the scope of the IPCC work programme has been a brief paper that provides guidance to the Lead Authors of the IPCC Assessment Reports on key aspects of their work. Guidance papers may also be commissioned by Working Groups in support of the IPCC assessment process.


Guidance papers are considered to be supporting material which is prepared for consideration by the IPCC and has not been subject to the formal IPCC review process.

 

 

Guidance Note for Lead Authors of the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report on Consistent Treatment of Uncertainties Annexes

Preparation of this Guidance Note was an agreed outcome of the IPCC Cross-Working Group Meeting on Consistent Treatment of Uncertainties, which was held in Jasper Ridge, California, USA, from 6-7 July 2010.

 

Good Practice Guidance Paper on Assessing and Combining Multi Model Climate Projections

Preparation of this Guidance Paper was an agreed outcome of the IPCC Expert Meeting on Assessing and Combining Multi-Model Climate Projections, which was held in Boulder, Colorado, USA, from 25-27 January 2010

 

Good Practice Guidance Paper on Detection and Attribution Related to Anthropogenic Climate Change

Preparation of this Guidance Paper was an agreed outcome of the IPCC Expert Meeting on Detection and Attribution Related to Anthropogenic Climate Change, which was held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 14-16 September 2009.

 

Guidance Notes on Addressing Uncertainties for AR4 Lead Authors

Preparation of these notes was an agreed outcome of the IPCC Workshop on Describing Scientific Uncertainties in Climate Change to Support Analysis of Risk and of Options, which was held in Maynooth, Ireland, from 11–13 May 2004.
